ASP.NET Error: Server Error in Application "Resource not found"

After transferring some files via Visual Studio to a website, a stared getting the HTTP 404 error above. The file I was searching for, test.aspx, was definitely there as were other .htm and .asp files around it. After searching through a myriad of posts, checking if ASP.2.0 was hooked up properly, that my directories were correct, that the application was there, that the DNS was indeed correct, I found the stupid problem: an app_offline.htm file had been generated during the update, and had not been removed. Apparently in Windows 2003 /IIS6/ .NET 2, this will result in an HTTP 404 error that gives no clue as to it’s cause. I hope this saves you some time.

HDRI Lighting Render

Here are a series of renders showing an HDRI image material mapped onto a Sky Object. The spheres have reflective shaders applied to it and there is a single light source up above casting soft-traced shadows on the floor below. The next goal is to model, texture and light something more complicated.

KMG 3D

This is a quick mockup of our company identity in 3d. The vector .ai file was imported and it's a simple extrusion with a beveled edge applied. There a 2 light sources in the scene. One is above and the other one is low and off to the side. I played around with the camera placement to get a nice low-angle. No textures or shaders... just the plain default material.

Displacement Map

It's been a few months since any activity transpired on this site. My sincerest apologies. It's been a busy year thus far. This is a simple polygon object with a tiled material applied to it. It was then subjected to a displacement map with a few tweaks to give it a more rounded surface. I rendered it with a few settings such global illumination and ambient occlusion to give it a more realistic feel. I'm still learning about lighting and rendering as well as the basics of modeling and etc... Once I get better acclimated to these fundamentals, I'll try to post some more samples.

EYP Vintage

Another quick design mock-up done after work in the vein of something old, distressed and vintage. I used 2 photographs of vintage stock for the main image with some filigree designs and text. Overall it took about 40 minutes to make.

Again, the main point in doing these is to develop speed and to learn to be able to put concepts and ideas down quickly. Sometimes it works out and other times it doesn't. I already do this when I have ideas for an illustration or piece of artwork. The good thing is once it put down into a visual form, you can refer back to it later...sometimes months later.

I find that this process also allows me to explore a more versatile spectrum of styles and treatments that otherwise would never be attempted.

This is a design that went through my mind today as I worked. No reason and no purpose other than to get into the habit of recording visual thoughts down quickly as it passes through the cerebral flux of random ideas. Perhaps in the future, it might serve a more practical purpose by being used as a style for a client or in-house project. Maybe a shirt design? Yes, perhaps a shirt would be cool.

Graphics for CALA Apparel

Here are a few samples of graphics we created for our client CALA Apparel. These graphics were created for an upcoming tradeshow in January 2007. These are 2 out of a total of 6 large designs we designed for them. The first image above is around 8 feet tall in height and the layered image file in photoshop was about 3.5 gigabytes at 150 dpi.

To create the look and feel of these designs, a combination of photographic and vector elements were blended together and bulit up using layers in photoshop. Weathering and other effects were added in last.

The principle photography of the model was done by our resident senior photographer, John Lee.

Little Icons

Here are six little icons we made for a client of ours for use on their inhouse application program. They were first hand-sketched and then recreated in Adobe Illustrator. After the vectors done, each piece was imported into Photoshop as separate layers in order to easily add shading, highlights and subtle reflections.

Logo for Okajima Group, Inc.

This logo was created a few months back. The Okajima Group was established in 1997 as a recording studio business and live sound production company. Since then, they have grown to provide a wide variety of entertainment & management services to artists and corporate clients alike.

The graphical lines emanating from the center represents sound/audio waves projecting forth into the environment. We also created their company stationary and website.

A few logo concepts for En Garde Health

For En Garde's new identity, we went for a clean and professional look in order to represent their product line of nutritional, optimal health products. The font style is contemporary and modern with a nice sprout graphic of an emerging leaf. The logo will be used for an upcoming product catalog as well as on their current e-commerce website.

Eventually the logo will also find its way onto the product bottles. That'll be pretty cool!

A few logo concepts for Rage Boards

These are just a few concepts out of a batch of about a 120 sketches that we recently delivered to our client Rage Boards. The final chosen logo is of the flying Gargoyle seen above. We are currently developing an e-commerce site in which products such as decks and apparel will be sold. The logo above will be their new official mark.

We were also approached with the opportunity to design some of their new boards and skating apparel. We're looking forward to creating some crazy illustrations and designs!
